I left my family in Zürich to go find Alex in Munich. I crossed through Switzerland, Austria, and Germany by train, meeting her at the arrival station. That evening, I saw the most extraordinary sunset of my life over Nymphenburg Palace and felt as though I were eight years old watching fireworks erupt above Cinderella Castle for the first time.
